We had not been friends for some time and in fact had been close to enemies, so his death was something I had no idea how to take. I forgot an important event from this time. My dad used to borrow this Love & Rockets cassette from me, and I'd borrow his tape of their first album. It was a tiny little place with no AC and they just "rocked the house". Great music as usual but that's the most visceral reaction for me.
